Baseball Recap: Pope County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

While Pope County's win against Carrier Mills-Stonefort wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Wildcats on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunter Steele was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

The win was the third in a row for Pope County, bringing their record up to 4-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
