Baseball Recap: Friends Academy Takes a Loss

Friends Academy had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-3 to make it six. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carle Place Frogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Frogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-4 defeat on Monday.

Ben Notaris and Damian Balkcom did some serious damage despite the final result: Notaris went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Balkcom went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Mason Linken was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Carle Place, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Carle Place's side, the team relied heavily on Colin Driscoll, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Driscoll has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Tucholski, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

While Friends Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
