The Wakeland Wolverines will square off against the Lone Star Rangers at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wakeland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Creekview 18-1 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Jordan Mcnees spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.
At the plate, Claire Schreiner was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Drake, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5.
Wakeland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lone Star, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Turner get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rangers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Not much got past Lairyn Bell, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Turner off the board. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Bell.
On the hitting side, Brooke Wooten was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Madison Edgett was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Lone Star pushed their record up to 10-6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Lone Star's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Wakeland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lone Star, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Wakeland keep running through batters, or will Lone Star buck the trend?
Wakeland came up short against Lone Star in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 4-0. Can Wakeland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
