Basketball Recap: Franklin Takes Down Midland Legacy in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Franklin had no trouble coming through when it counted. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 56-55 victory over the Midland Legacy Rebels. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Rebels are ranked 269th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklin found their leader in freshman Allison De La O, who went 6-for-7 on her way to 27 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points De La O has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Balsiger, who posted 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Franklin's record is now 22-9. As for Midland Legacy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-14.

Coming up, Franklin will face off against Timber Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Timber Creek will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Franklin surely won't give up without a fight. Midland Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
