Basketball Game Preview: Lakeside Dragons vs. Brush Arcs

The Lakeside Dragons will head out to square off against the Brush Arcs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside has given up an average of 57.4 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakeside took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They secured a 62-58 W over West Geauga. The win was some much needed relief for the Dragons as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Brush made easy work of John F. Kennedy on Friday and carried off a 70-45 victory. Given the Arcs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Fighting Eagles are ranked 676th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brush's win came from a few key players that Lakeside will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Braylon Davis, who made all 7 shots he took to post 15 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvyn Gilchrist, who posted nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Brush smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Lakeside's record is now 10-12. As for Brush, their record now sits at 14-8.
