Baseball Game Preview: Chicago Christian Knights vs. Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes

The Chicago Christian Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chicago Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Chicago Christian after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 11-3 to Chicago Hope Academy. The Knights haven't had much luck with Chicago Hope Academy recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Rafe Slager was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Marian Central Catholic came up short against Wheaton Academy on Tuesday, falling 11-3. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mason Graf made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Marian Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Chicago Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chicago Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Marian Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Chicago Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Marian Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
