Football Game Preview: Weston Trojans vs. Bunnell Bulldogs + How To Watch

Weston is 0-4 against Bunnell since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Trojans will head out to take on the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Bunnell took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Weston, who comes in off a win.

Weston will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points last Friday, then bounced right back against Bassick on Friday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 50-26 margin over the Lions. The Trojans pushed the score to 50-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Timothy Martin was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 248 yards and two TDs while completing 76% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (133.4). 85 of Martin's passing yards were hauled in by Jack Olsen.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Maddox Parsons, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Tyler Umhoefer.

Meanwhile, Bunnell faced New Canaan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs lost 27-7 to the Rams. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Bunnell's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Weston, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Weston suffered a grim 45-20 defeat to Bunnell in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Thankfully for the Trojans, Michael Trovarelli (who rushed for 206 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 23 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
