Basketball Recap: Avon's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Avon has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Berea-Midpark Titans. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 45-42.

Despite the defeat, Avon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alaina Pagan went 6 for 14 on her way to 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pagan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Lammers, who went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Avon's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5. As for Berea-Midpark, their record is now 13-7.

Avon and Berea-Midpark should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Avon will face off against Midview at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday up 379 places (105 vs. 484). Avon will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Berea-Midpark (ranked 140th) will meet North Ridgeville (ranked 358th) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
