Basketball Recap: Bovina Takes a Loss

Bovina lost against Farwell back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bovina Mustangs were dealt a 61-6 defeat at the hands of the Farwell Steers. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 942nd, while the Steers are ranked 37th).

Farwell had a senior duo take command as Makylee Baldwin almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds and Landri Richey almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 12 boards, and nine blocks. Baldwin has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. Isabella Jaime was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Bovina has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Farwell, they pushed their record up to 24-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Bovina will head out to take on Lockney at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Bovina is facing Lockney at the right time seeing as Lockney is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Farwell, they will host Olton at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Farwell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.
