Baseball Recap: Hampshire Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Hampshire had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Culleoka on Monday. The Hawks blew past the Warriors 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Elijah Stephens spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keaon Nicholson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dakota Disbro was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Hampshire's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Culleoka, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Hampshire will have a chance to go back-to-back against Culleoka: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
