Softball Game Preview: Baldwin Park Braves vs. Duarte Falcons

The Baldwin Park Braves will head out to take on the Duarte Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwin Park is looking for their season's first win.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Baldwin Park's offense. They came up short against Nogales on Tuesday, falling 13-0.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Duarte made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sierra Vista on Tuesday. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Dons. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Duarte got a massive performance out of Valeria Hinajosa, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniella Matiarena, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Duarte lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Duarte has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Baldwin Park, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Baldwin Park might still be hurting after the 31-0 defeat they got from Duarte in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
