Basketball Game Preview: Seagraves Eagles vs. Ropes Eagles

Seagraves hasn't had much luck against Ropes recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Seagraves will take on Ropes at 6:15 p.m. Seagraves has given up an average of 62 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Seagraves is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 72 points last Tuesday, they were much more limited against Whiteface on Friday. They were outmatched by the Antelopes and fell 65-20. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1290th, while the Antelopes are ranked 110th).

Meanwhile, Ropes suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2025 on Tuesday. 2026 welcomed they with a 60-37 loss courtesy of Whiteface. The Eagles have struggled against the Antelopes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Seagraves' loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Ropes, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-8.

Seagraves took a serious blow against Ropes in their previous matchup back in December of 2025, falling 61-23. Can Seagraves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
