Preview: Jack Britt Buccaneers vs. Purnell Swett Rams
The Jack Britt Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jack Britt will be strutting in after a victory while the Rams will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Jack Britt earned a 54-46 win over the Pirates. Given Jack Britt's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Pirates are ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jack Britt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zahara Gerald, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexia White, who scored 23 points.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett took a serious blow against the Colts on Tuesday, falling 75-23. Purnell Swett was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-11.
Jack Britt has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Purnell Swett, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Jack Britt took their victory against the Rams in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 55-32. With Jack Britt ahead 34-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
