Basketball Recap: Vandalia Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Vandalia hadn't done well against Mattoon recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Vandalia Vandals snuck past the Mattoon Greenwave with a 42-36 victory. For the Vandals, this counts as revenge for the 51-36 win the Greenwave walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2019.

Vandalia's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-9. As for Mattoon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vandalia will challenge Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mattoon has already played their next match (against Effingham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
