Canon City is 2-8 against Mesa Ridge since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Canon City Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
It was a proper cat-fight when Canon City challenged Harrison on Tuesday. Canon City walked away with a 64-54 victory over Harrison. The Tigers didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canon City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Mullin-Betts, who went 5 for 7 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Mullin-Betts a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Brehner Jackson, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Mesa Ridge waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They escaped with a win against the Terrors by the margin of a single free throw, 65-64. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Terrors are ranked 75th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canon City better keep an eye on Bryce Riehl. He was instrumental in Mesa Ridge's win, putting up 21 points. Riehl is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Isaiah Lucas was another key player, earning 11 points.
Mesa Ridge's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Canon City, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Canon City has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mesa Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
