Basketball Game Preview: Piney Woods Tornadoes vs. Taylorsville Tartars

Piney Woods and Taylorsville are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Piney Woods Tornadoes will host the Taylorsville Tartars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Piney Woods will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Leake County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Piney Woods enjoyed a cozy 65-50 victory over Leake County on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tornadoes.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylorsville). They breezed by Stringer to the tune of 77-34 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Tartars who have now won five games in a row.

Taylorsville has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Piney Woods, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
