Baseball Recap: Sutton Takes a Loss

Sutton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against South on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colonels by a score of 8-7. The Sammies/Suzies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonels apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jackson Kehowski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Sutton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Kisiel, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.

Sutton now has a losing record of 8-9. As for South, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Sutton will be playing at home against Worcester Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sammies/Suzies are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for South, they will take on Sutton/Douglas at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
