Softball Game Preview: West Bridgewater Wildcats vs. Cardinal Spellman Cardinals

The West Bridgewater Wildcats will venture away from home to square off against the Cardinal Spellman Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. West Bridgewater has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Bridgewater is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since May 21, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Apponequet Regional, falling 20-2. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats let down their fans at home.

West Bridgewater saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanna Fidalgo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Fidalgo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Spellman won against Bishop Fenwick last Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Cardinals walked away with a 7-4 win over Sandwich. The Cardinals' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Cardinal Spellman pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for West Bridgewater, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

West Bridgewater might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Cardinal Spellman in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
