Baseball Preview: Alonso Ravens vs. Plant City Raiders

The Alonso Ravens will play host again on Thursday to welcome the Plant City Raiders, where first pitch is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. The last three games Alonso has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Alonso had just enough and edged Gaither out 6-5. That's two games straight that Alonso has won by just one run.

Andy Aduriz looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also only allowed one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive pitching appearances. Vincent Antuna relieved him and did a solid job, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Carson Vega was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Another player making a difference was Daniel Despaine, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Plant City came up short against Sumner on Monday and fell 8-4.

Plant City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Pellicer, who went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Alonso's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Plant City, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-8.
