Softball Game Preview: Temecula Valley Golden Bears vs. Murrieta Valley Nighthawks

Temecula Valley hasn't had much luck against Murrieta Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Nighthawks at 3:30 p.m. Temecula Valley has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Temecula Valley is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Great Oak, falling 12-1.

Temecula Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Luna, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Luna has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Murrieta Valley got the win against Chaparral on Wednesday by a conclusive 15-1. The win continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their matchups with the Pumas: they've now won seven in a row.

Charlotte Thayer looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tiffany Karg, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Gallaspy, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Murrieta Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chaparral only posted an OBP of .391.

Temecula Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Murrieta Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
