Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Castle View Sabercats

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Regis Jesuit, the Chaparral Wolverines were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 44-32 victory over Castle View. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Castle View is ranked 90th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chaparral found their leader in underclassman Lauren Thompson, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Thompson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Reagan Lentell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Loss or not, Castle View got some senior leadership from Liv Loveland and Scarlett Beerbower. Loveland scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while Beerbower. scored six points along with eight rebounds.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Castle View, they bumped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Chaparral the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Mountain Vista is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Castle View's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ponderosa at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Ponderosa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
