Softball Game Preview: Western Beaver Golden Beavers vs. Blackhawk Cougars

The Western Beaver Golden Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Blackhawk Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Western Beaver has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 11.

Western Beaver lost 8-2 to Shenango on Friday.

Kaetlin Caylao (2025) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Western Beaver saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liliana Chambers (2027), who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That hit marked the first that Chambers (2027) has got this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Blackhawk faced off against Beaver back in April. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 win over the Bobcats. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Cougars' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Not much got past Kylie Prisuta, who gave up just three hits to keep Beaver off the board. Prisuta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Blackhawk now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Western Beaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
