Baseball Game Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Hunter Wolverines

For the second straight game, Murray will face off against Hunter. The Spartans will venture away from home to square off against the Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murray is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Murray took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hunter as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Murray got a great performance from Bode Gladhart as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Gladhart has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Degan Biltz was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Preece, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Murray lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Murray pushed their record up to 13-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hunter, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Hunter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Murray hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314.
