Baseball Recap: Sacopee Valley Takes a Loss

Sacopee Valley managed to slip by Old Orchard Beach the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Seagulls on Thursday, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered against the Seagulls since May 3, 2021.

Sacopee Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Harvey, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Harvey has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Silas Nielsen was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

This is the second loss in a row for Sacopee Valley and nudges their season record down to 8-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-5 Waynflete (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.9% over those games). As for Old Orchard Beach, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Sacopee Valley is taking a road trip to challenge St. Dominic at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Old Orchard Beach, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Waynflete at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
