Basketball Recap: Anacostia Comes Up Short

Anacostia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Roosevelt Roughriders, falling 91-17. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-8.

Antoine Johnson, Jr. went supernova for Roosevelt, shooting 6-for-9 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Johnson, Jr. a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Hall, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Anacostia's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Roosevelt, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Anacostia will challenge Jackson-Reed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jackson-Reed's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Roosevelt, they will take on Banneker at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
