Baseball Recap: Kennedy's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

With a playoff win on the line, Kennedy rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Monroe Vikings as they made off with a 13-3 win. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Cougars this season.

Ernesto Robles made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Roberto Solares, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Solares a new career-high. Rocky Marin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Kennedy's losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 6-17 record. As for Monroe, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 23-3 record.

Looking ahead, Kennedy will take on Port of Los Angeles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Polar Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Golden Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
