Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Hayden Yarnes and Luke Galer Lead Del Oro to Victory

There's no place like home for Del Oro, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-38 victory over the Davis Sr. Blue Devils on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Golden Eagles: when they faced off against the Blue Devils back in January, they had to take a 48-44 loss.

Del Oro was led to victory by Luke Galer and Hayden Yarnes. Galer dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while Yarnes went 6 for 12 to rack up 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most rebounds Yarnes has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shane Smith, who put up two points and five steals.

Del Oro's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 9-17. As for Davis Sr., they have been struggling recently as they've lost 16 of their last 17 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-20 record this season.

Del Oro and Davis Sr. could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Del Oro (ranked 411th) will meet Oak Ridge (ranked 131st) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Del Oro has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 2. Similarly, Davis Sr. will square off against Rocklin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 533 places (607 vs. 74).
