Softball Recap: Reavis Has No Trouble Against Payton College Prep

Reavis had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Payton College Prep on Friday. The Rams blew past the Grizzlies 15-9.

Kenzie Welsh and Lily Fish did most of the damage at the plate: Welsh went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Fish got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Fish a new career-high. Marissa Lombardo also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Reavis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Reavis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Payton College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Looking ahead, Reavis will square off against Richards at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Payton College Prep, they will challenge Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.71 runs per game on average), something the Grizzlies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
