Soccer Game Preview: Bearden vs. Science Hill

The Bearden Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Science Hill Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bearden's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Science Hill's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Bearden is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Tennessee's top teams: Farragut, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Bearden was ranked sixth). The Bulldogs and the Admirals finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Saturday. Bearden's loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.

Meanwhile, Science Hill's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Dobyns-Bennett by a score of 3-2. Like Bearden, Science Hill also had to let a streak go: they had won three straight, but that streak is no more.

Science Hill's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-4-3. Bearden's draw makes their record 13-1-1 this season.

Bearden was able to grind out a solid win over Science Hill in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
