League recap: League leaders Stuart Hall and Lick-Wilmerding to clash this week

On May 11, 2012, the top two teams in the current league standings will go head to head, as Stuart Hall and Lick-Wilmerding meet. The Knights currently hold a 0.50-game lead over the Tigers for first place.

Stuart Hall (8-4, 5-0) is red-hot, having won six straight games, the longest such streak in Bay Counties - West. Two of those wins came in the past week, includinga 4-1 victory over Urban.

Stuart Hall boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Knights's pitchers have been charged with only 51 hits and have struck out 81 batters. Ben Carasco is tops on the staff with 75 Ks.

Marin Academy struck out 41 times as a team over the past week, but Lick-Wilmerding is still the biggest offender of swings and misses on the season, with 147 in all.

University's John Schember finished his week with nine hits, tops in the league. His 26 hits for the year are first in the league, and he boasts a .456 batting average.
