Softball Preview: Wickliffe Blue Devils vs. South Rebels
The Wickliffe Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wickliffe will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
Last Thursday, Wickliffe was able to grind out a solid win over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, taking the game 7-2.
Meanwhile, in what's become a running theme this season, South gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They put the hurt on Strongsville with a sharp 15-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South.
Halle Zupancic made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Zupancic has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Zupancic was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, South got a massive performance out of Addyson Matriano, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Bella Hostutler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, and a stolen base.
