Volleyball Recap: Spring Mills Takes Down Ranked Clear Spring

Spring Mills is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Clear Spring. The Cardinals walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Blazers. That's more bragging rights for the Cardinals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Spring Mills was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17.

Gabrielle Malatt had an outrageously good game as she had nine digs and seven aces. Those seven aces gave her a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Spring Mills was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Clear Spring lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Callie Hose, who had 22 digs and five assists. Another player making a difference was Malea Shingleton, who had seven digs, three aces, and one block.

Spring Mills has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10-1 record this season. As for Clear Spring, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Coming up, Spring Mills will welcome Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clear Spring, after both having extra time off, they and Oakdale will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
