Soccer Game Preview: Waipahu vs. Leilehua

Waipahu and Leilehua are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long. The Waipahu Marauders will venture away from home to square off against the Leilehua Mighty Mules at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Waipahu's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for Waipahu's offense. They came up short against 'Aiea last Monday, falling 7-0. That's two games in a row now that the Marauders have lost by exactly seven goals.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on MondayLeilehua capped 2024 with a 2-1 win over Nanakuli.

Leilehua's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6-2. As for Waipahu, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Waipahu came out on top in a nail-biter against Leilehua when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waipahu since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
