Basketball Recap: Eastern York Takes Down Mount Carmel in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Eastern York walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Mount Carmel RED TORNADOES with a sharp 66-43 victory on Friday. The Golden Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Mount Carmel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jude Lazicki shot 43% from the field en route to 24 points and eight boards. Jaylen Delaney was another key player, putting up two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Eastern York is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Mount Carmel's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-6.

Looking ahead, Eastern York will take on Devon Prep on Tuesday. Eastern York will be up against Devon Prep's rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.26 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Mount Carmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
