Soccer Game Preview: Murrieta Valley vs. Chaparral

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Chaparral Pumas at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Murrieta Valley came up short against Vista Murrieta on Friday, falling 4-1. The Nighthawks haven't had much luck with the Broncos recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Chaparral has been on a difficult stretch since their win on November 19. They lost 5-0 to Great Oak on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pumas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 945th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 149th).

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 1-9-2. As for Murrieta Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11-1.

Murrieta Valley beat Chaparral by a goal in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murrieta Valley since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
