Softball Recap: Ceres' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After flying high against Central Valley last Wednesday, Ceres came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Beyer Patriots by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Bulldogs were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matches prior), but the Patriots' pitcher proved too tough.

Ceres saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Montesdeoca, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Ceres moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Beyer, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Ceres will host Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season. As for Beyer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johansen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.89 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
