Riverside is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Lakeside Eagles at 3:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Riverside is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Priest River with a sharp 16-4 win on Tuesday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Makenna Distad made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That hit marked the first that she has got this season.
In other batting news, Chloe Nelson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macie Hoffman, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Riverside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Priest River only posted a batting average of .190.
Meanwhile, Lakeside was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Tenino. Considering the Eagles have won five games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lily Taylor was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Trista Peterson and Avery Austin did most of the damage at the plate: Peterson went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Austin went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Peterson is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Aleya Sturm was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Lakeside now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Riverside, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Riverside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lakeside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Riverside suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Lakeside in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
