Football Recap: Harlandale Falls Despite Big Games from Armando Munoz and Unyces Cestou Garcia

Harlandale lost against Tivy back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indians fell 42-34 to the Antlers. While the Indians had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Antlers 14-7.

Unyces Cestou Garcia and Armando Munoz certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Cestou Garcia threw for 260 yards and three TDs, while Munoz picked up 98 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those passing touchdowns were Cestou Garcia's first of the season. A healthy portion of Cestou Garcia's aerial production (89 yards to be exact) also went to Elijah Herrera.

Tivy was led to victory by Aiden Zavala and President Calamaco. Zavala gained 152 total yards and a touchdown, while Calamaco picked up 124 receiving yards and two scores. Calamaco's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.

Harlandale now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Tivy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Harlandale is set to face off against their familiar foe Alamo Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Tivy will square off against rival Victoria West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 851 yards in their previous games.
