Basketball Recap: Waco Starts Season with Win on the Road

Waco had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 61-30 win over the Northwest Texans. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the defeat, Northwest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddox Cooper posted nine points.

Northwest is on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waco will square off against Elgin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwest, they will challenge Samuell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
