Softball Recap: Pace Victorious

Pace put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas a 17-0 shutout. The Vikings have beaten the Javelinas the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Javelinas has come to flipping the script.

Luna Juarez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Juarez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Valeria Alvarado was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 4 RBI per game. Another player making a difference was Sofia Alejandro, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Pace was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.

Pace's record now sits at 4-0. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Pace will take on Edinburg North in a tournament on Friday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 0.2 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they will be taking part in a tournament against Economedes at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
