Volleyball Recap: Athens Drive Starts off Right with Win over Cary

Athens Drive gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Cary Imps. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won four matchups in a row dating back to last season.

Athens Drive took Cary into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 27-25, 25-27, 23-25, 15-11.

Holden Carroll had a dynamite game, getting 25 digs. Those 25 digs gave her a new career-high.

Athens Drive was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Coming up, Athens Drive will head out on the road to square off against Willow Spring at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cary, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on East Wake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
