Basketball Recap: Floyd Comes Up Short

Floyd was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Gateway Christian Warriors and fell 68-27. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Despite the loss, Floyd saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rey Duarte posted seven points. Those seven points gave Duarte a new career-high.

Grady Munson was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-15 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven assists and six steals for Gateway Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack McCracken, who had six points and six steals.

Floyd's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Gateway Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Floyd didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Lake Arthur on the 13th. As for Gateway Christian, they have also already played their next game, a 62-43 loss against Melrose on the 13th.
