Baseball Game Preview: Malvern Hornets vs. East Canton Hornets

For the second straight game, Malvern will face off against East Canton. Malvern will venture away from home to face off against East Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hornets on Tuesday. Malvern came out on top against East Canton by a score of 6-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Owen Warth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Good, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Malvern is 2-1 when Good posts three or more hits, but 5-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Cobb, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Malvern's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. As for East Canton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
