Baseball Game Preview: Springville Red Devils vs. Riverton Silverwolves

The Springville Red Devils will square off against the Riverton Silverwolves at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Springville is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Springville came up short against Union and fell 8-5.

Springville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hugh Redd, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that Redd scored this season.

Meanwhile, Riverton started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Spanish Fork. They lost 9-3 to the Dons on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Silverwolves have suffered since March 26, 2024.

Riverton also got a good showing from McKade Ortiz, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Ortiz a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Springville's record now sits at 2-4. As for Riverton, their record is now 1-1.

Springville couldn't quite get it done against Riverton in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 as they fell 10-6. Can Springville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
