Baseball Recap: Bastrop Find Success

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Bastrop ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cedar Creek Eagles 6-5. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by just one run.

Francisco Arriaga made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Arriaga was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

Arriaga wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Val Regalado, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Regalado hit this season.

The win made it two in a row for Bastrop and bumps their season record up to 6-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Cedar Creek, they dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Bastrop will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cedar Creek: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
