Softball Recap: Pearl Takes a Loss

Pearl entered their game against Oak Grove on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Pearl Pirates fell 5-2 to the Oak Grove Warriors. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Pearl saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Haller, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Pearl's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Oak Grove, they moved to 7-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pearl will host Enterprise at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oak Grove, they will face off against Meridian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meridian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Oak Grove will no doubt try to take advantage of.
