West Lafayette's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Twin Lakes 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Devils have posted since April 10, 2025.

The result came thanks to Molly Mansfield's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, West Lafayette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paola Eifler, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Rensselaer Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past Lafayette Central Catholic 13-7. The victory continues a trend for the Bombers in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won five in a row.
Kami Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. Davis was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynn Hannon, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Laney Westfall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
West Lafayette's record is now 3-0. As for Rensselaer Central, their record now sits at 1-0.
West Lafayette couldn't quite get it done against Rensselaer Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 9-5. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
