The Flowing Wells Caballeros will venture away from home to challenge the Buena Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowing Wells will be strutting in after a victory while Buena will be coming in after a loss.
If Flowing Wells beats Buena with 12 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Caballeros beat Pueblo on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-2. The game was the first time the Caballeros have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 28, 2021.
Yandel Rios-Arvayo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Rios-Arvayo was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Flowing Wells let Brady Vanderlaske and Adrian Soto run wild. Vanderlaske got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Soto went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Soto a new career-high. Bruce Gonzalez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Flowing Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Buena unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Desert View by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Colts have suffered since March 17th.
Aidan Barrett was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Cortes, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Flowing Wells' record now sits at 8-16-1. As for Buena, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 18-6.
Flowing Wells couldn't quite get it done against Buena in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can the Caballeros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
