Recap: West Valley Eagles vs. Anderson Cubs
The West Valley Eagles were the 49-6 winner over the Anderson Cubs when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. West Valley took a 38-22 bruising from Anderson on Friday. West Valley just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
John Puffer threw for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Jesus Cervantes was his top target, picking up 74 receiving yards. On the ground, Cooper Staup rushed for 59 yards.
Gavin Lockhart had an outrageously good game for Anderson as he rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Lockhart was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
West Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Anderson, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Valley will challenge Yreka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yreka is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Anderson, they will head out on the road to face off against Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lassen is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
