Northwestern dropped their record down to 7-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the High Point Eagles, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-4 back in March.

Alberto Weaver was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. Derrell Carter was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for High Point, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
On High Point's side, Bryan Perez and Yojancel Soto were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Perez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Soto struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). At bat, Perez went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Soto went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Keysi Matos and Ramon Brito Jr did most of the damage at the plate: Matos went 1-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Brito Jr went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Brito Jr has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elinzon Ruiz, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Northwestern is set to face off against their familiar foe Bowie at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, High Point will take on rival DuVal at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
